Death notice from the Sonoma Democrat:
A Veteran Departs..
On the 11th inst., William Ducker, Sr., while walking across his farm in Rincon valley, slipped and fell, sustaining a fracture of the hips, which caused a shock resulting in his death on Saturday last.

His remains were laid at rest in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, on Monday, and were followed to their last resting place by a large number of his friends and neighbors, who were desirous of paying a last tribute of respect to his memory, and of indicating their sympathy to his bereaved relatives.

Mr. Ducker was born near Louisville, Kentucky, in 1795, and grew to manhood in his native State. In 1832 he served as a volunteer in the Black Hawk war, and took part in that contest which gave the government supremacy of the Winnebagoes, Sacs and Foxes.

When peace was restored, he went to Missouri, and for a time was on the trail from St. Louis to Santa Fe. He finally settled near Independence, remaining there until 1853, when he crossed the plains to Oregon.

After spending three years in that State, or as it was then, Territory, he came to this State, and arriving in Petaluma in 1836, purchased a tract of the Petaluma Rancho, near the "Adobe," five miles east of Petaluma, from Gen. Vallejo.
In 1864 he purchased the tract in the Rincon valley, on which he resided until his death.
