age 37, Was killed instantly when it is believed he was struck by lightning while talking on the telephone at the Hagerstown rail yards. A severe thunder storm had gone through the Hagerston area. He was an engineer with the Western Maryland railroad where he had worked for 18 years. His pocket watch was badly damaged and the case and chain were partially melted.
He was survived by his wife and five children: Melvin, Chester, Marie, George and Roger Shelleman all at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Shelleman, New Oxford; brothers, George L., New Oxford; Guy, Lewis, and Ernest of Hampton; William Shelleman, Thomasville; sisters, Mrs. John Riley, Mrs. Albert Thomas and Mrs. Virgie Jacobs all of Hampton.
