Miss Nora Smith Briscoe died Saturday in Polly Ryon Hospital in Richmond. Miss Briscoe was born and reared at Foster in Fort Bend County but had lived in Bellaire a number of years with her brother-in-law and sister, the late Judge Frank Williford Jr. and Mrs. Williford.
She was a member of the Calvary Episcopal Church in Richmond, was Past Matron of Rosenberg Chapter 429 Order of the Eastern Star, and belonged to the Past Matrons and Patrons Club of O.E.S. She was also a member of the Fort Bend Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Captain James Asbury Tait Chapter, United Daughters 1812, La Salle Chapter Daughters of the American Colonists, San Jacinto Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and the Jasmine Sadler Sunday School Class of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Houston.
Miss Briscoe is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Dolph Briscoe Sr. of Uvalde, Mrs. Frank Williford Jr. of Bellaire, and Mrs. Mary D. Huntington of Rosenberg; two brothers, Mason Briscoe and Andrew Briscoe of Richmond; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Garmany and Company Chapel in Rosenberg at 4 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Orin G. Helvey officiated. Interment was in the Briscoe Family Cemetery near Foster. Pallbearers were her nephews, Andrew Briscoe, Mason Briscoe, Bill Briscoe, Dolph Briscoe Jr., George Huntington, Edward Vaught, Dr. Frank Williford 3rd, William Powell, Frank Briscoe, Balke Mahler, and Leonard Murphy.
