Herald Coaster, February 19, 1978:

Funeral services for Mason Briscoe, 95, of the Foster Community, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Episcopal Church in Richmond. The Rev. Ben Shawhan and the Rev. Fred Burford officiated, and burial was in the Briscoe Family Cemetery.

Mr. Briscoe was a retired rancher and a member of Calvary Episcopal Church. He was also a Shriner and a member of Morton Masonic Lodge Number 72. Mr. Briscoe died Thursday at Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital in Richmond after a lengthy illness.

Pallbearers were Andrew Briscoe Jr., Mason Briscoe II, Bill Briscoe, Frank Briscoe, Balke Mahler Sr., George Huntington Jr., Frank Williford III, and Gov. Dolph Briscoe.

He is survived by his brother, Andrew Briscoe of Richmond; his sister, Mrs. Frank Williford Jr., of Bellaire; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the nursing department of Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

Funeral services were under the direction of Garmany and Company Funeral Directors in Richmond.
