Farris Lee Popplewell, 84, Russell Springs, died Friday, April 21, 2000 at his residence.
He was born in Russell County October 22, 1915 to the late Nellie M. Johnson Popplewell and the late John Elmore Popplewell.

He was a retired farmer and carpenter, a member of the Willow Oak Church of Christ, and a U.S. Army Veteran serving in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife Zilma McQueary Popplewell.

He is survived by six sons, Marlus Popplewell, Paul Popplewell, Tommy Popplewell, Ola Popplewell, Roy Popplewell, all of Russell Springs; Willard Popplewell of Shelbyville, In.; two daughters, Nadean Wilson and Meredith Hopper both of Russell Springs; one brother, Grant Popplewell; two sisters, Virgie Zimmerman and Etta Belle Harris all of Russell Springs.

Services were held Sunday, April 23, 2000 at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gerald Burton officiating.

Burial was in Holt Cemetery.

Special music was performed by Bobby Dunbar.

Active pallbearers were David Hopper, Vince Popplewell, Chris Popplewell, Joe Wilson, Bryan Popplewell and Cody Foley.

Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Popplewell and Ronnie Popplewell.
