Grant Popplewell, 79, Russell Springs, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at his residence.
He was born December 25, 1929 to the late John E. and Nellie Mae Johnson Popplewell.
He is survived by his wife, Remona Popplewell, Russell Springs; two sons, Ronnie (Trish) Popplewell and Johnnie (Sherry) Popplewell, both of Russell Springs; one stepson, Ronnie Whittle, Russell Springs; one grandson, Jason Popplewell; five step grandchildren, Amanda Wooldridge, Tonya Lee, Amber Whittle, Josh Popplewell and Adam Johnson; three great grandchildren, Audrey, Jaelyn and Braedyn Popplewell; three step great grandchildren, Slylor Lee, Karlie Scaggs and Conner Hale; and one sister, Virgie (Hubert) Zimmerman, Russell Springs.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorene Chumbley Popplewell; ten siblings, Estil Popplewell, Oval Popplewell, Affie Wilson, Eva Bolin, Ina Hughes, Etta Belle Harris, Farris Popplewell, Jim Popplewell, J.R. Popplewell and Edward Hugh Popplewell.
Mr. Popplewell was a farmer and a member of the Pine Grove Separate Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Elvis Tucker and Bro. Troy Grider officiating. Burial was in Popplewell Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Carlie Roy, Bruce Johnson, Ronald Johnson, Elvin Wilson, Troy Coffey, Jason Popplewell, Marshall Popplewell and John Stephens.
Bernard Funeral Home Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
