Franklin (Frank) Emerson Heminger was born in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas, Ohio and moved with his family to Neosho County, Kansas at the age of six. He died at Bethany Hospital of natural causes. He graduated from Chanute, Kansas High School. Frank then traveled back to Canton, OH, to join his older brother Charles Elmer, where work was apparently abundant. He joined Charles for a brief period as a policeman; his brother, was already a policeman in Canton, Ohio. Frank eventually returned to Chanute, KS where he started a lifelong career as a railroad man with the Santa Fe. Starting as a brakeman, he soon moved on to the position of conductor where he remained until a disability retirement in 1942. Most, if not all, of his tenure with the Santa Fe was in the Argentine District of Kansas City, Kansas. He met and married a widow, Sara Julina (Rowe) Dillon, who had a young son named Tony Guy Dillon (F-A-G 709764750). Tony, in later life, was a prominent physician/surgeon in Kansas City. Frank and Lina (nickname) had one son, Calvin Earl Heminger who went onto a career in the pharmaceutical industry (Squibb) and later became vice president of the Stuart Hall Stationery Corp of Kansas City. Following Lina's death, Frank married a widow, Mary M. Lamb, who had two young daughters. Frank was once again afforded the joy of being a step-father. He was a 50-year life member of the Free Masons and advanced to the ranks of the Mystic Shrine (Ben Hur).
