Mrs. Margaret Jane (Wolfe) Heminger, the wife of John Calvin Heminger, died at 4:45 a.m. this morning at her home 520 W. Second Street, Chanute, KS. She was 62 years old and had been sick since early in the summer with cancer of the stomach.
The funeral services will be held from the Methodist church at 2;30 p.m. Sunday. They will be conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. R. McFadden, assisted by Rev. H.G. Mathis, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Mrs. Heminger was a life long member of the Methodist church.
The friends will start from the house to the church at 2 p.m. Interment will be made in Elmwood Cemetery. The ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic will have charge of the services in the cemetery.
Mrs. Heminger's maiden name was Margaret Jane Wolfe. She was born in New Philadelphia Ohio, August 25, 1847, and was married to John Calvin Heminger on October 6, 1866, at New Philadelphia, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret E (McClain) Wolf who was born in County Down, Ireland in 1826 and her father Wesley Wolf who was born in Tuscarawas County, OH in 1824. Margaret and her family had lived there until the spring of 1878, when they came to Chanute, KS and had resided here or in the vicinity ever since.
The immediate members of the family who survive her are her husband and their four sons. Two sons, John Wesley and Earl Royster, live here. Frank Emerson resides in Argentine,(Kansas City) Kansas and will come to attend the funeral. Charles Elmer, who lives in Canton, Ohio, will be unable to come.
She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. L. E. Fribley of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and two brothers, Wesley Wolfe, also of New Philadelphia and John Wesley Wolfe of Cincinnati, Ohio.
