He served in the US Army as a First Sergeant and was promoted to Lieutenant in the Combat Artillery Core. He was honorably discharged in June 1960. Ervin was a skilled craftsman, business entrepreneur, builder and designer, decorated soldier, accomplished outdoorsman, and most of all a beloved husband, father, and grandfather to his family. Everyone that Ervin touched will remember his magnetic smile, joviality, and creative sense of humor.
