James Lenox was born on December 28, 1849 in Ross Co, Ohio. His father William Lenox b1822 was 27 and his mother Emma Potter Lenox was just 20 years old. (William was at 0ne point a Deputy U.S Marshall and even recorded the Census on his 0wn family in 1860 while employed as a U.S Marshall at the age of 38. He died on June 19, 1869 in St Joseph, Missouri, at the age of 47. A few days prior he had been Shot while attempting to arrest an Outlaw, and we located the Newspaper articles in the St Joseph Gazette outlining his progress during the last week of his Life.) James married Margaret Elizabeth Gates on November 10, 1871 in Marion, Missouri. In 1882 he was involved in a bar-room brawl in which he was injured. Like his father before him the St Joseph Gazette had a brief mention in the paper each day following on his progress. James & Margaret had eight children in the 24 years between 1872 and 1896. He died on February 3, 1924 in Dillon, Montana at the age of 74. More to follow...................
