US Congressman. He attended the Buffalo Law School New York, was admitted to the bar in 1896 and commenced to practice law in La Porte, Indiana, in 1897. Entering politics, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth Congress and to the next five succeeding Congresses, serving (1919-31). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death.
