He was born in Springtown to John Taylor Plumlee and Jennie Northcut. He died in Weatherford at the Campbell Memorial Hospital on Oct 10, 1976. He was a retired Groceryman. His wife Weta survived him.

Green and his wife, Weta, had four children: G. L. Jr, of Weatherford; Ed, of Fort Worth; Julian of Kennedale; and Nona Sands of Dallas. They lived on 1st Street in Springtown, on the banks of Walnut Creek, where they have resided for twenty-five years.
The Plumlee's were farmers and dairymen for many, many yers in this community. It was Green Plumlee that got the first milk route started in Springtown in 1924.
