Mr. Walter Truman "Grandad" Arnett, 74, of Manitou, KY died at 12:15 A.M. Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Born February 3, 1930 in Graham, KY he was the son of the late Walter Arnett and Lillie Mae Bowers Arnett. He was also preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Tichenor and three sisters, Beatrice Arnett, Mary Lou Thompson and Fay Nell Johnson

He was an co-owner and operator of Lazy Eight Trucking. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Lee Arnett of Manitou; five daughters, Beth Royal, of Ilsley, KY, Becky Lloyd of Ilsley, Donna Arnold of Madisonville, Kathy Tichenor and Wanda Tichenor of Nortonville, KY; two sons, Walter Thomas Arnett of Hanson, KY and Douglas Tichenor formerly of Madisonville; 30 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 28, 2004 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Ramon Davis and Rev. Roy G. Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville with graveside services by the VFW Post 5480 and American Legion Post 6, American Legion Post 2 and American Legion Post 310.

Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday and after 8:00 A.M. Saturday until the service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Henry Meeks, Don Moore, Ralph Lovelace, Jimmy Arnold, Chris Oglesby, Dustin Boze and Jonathan Lloyd.

Memorials may take the form of donations to St. Jude's Hospital for Children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
My father served in germaney as well as the korean war. He was also the owner/operator of a small but successful trucking company. He left behind 1 son and 2 daughters and several grandchildren.
