William Hanson came to Comanche County before 1860 as he shown in the 1860 Comanche County census.

"#67, taken August 24, 1867, William Hanson, Pct. 4, in state 7 years, in county 7 years, in pct. 5 years, native of Virginia." (1867 Comanche County, Texas Voter Registration list.)

"Among the first settlers in portions of Comanche County (1860's) ... Rush Creek: Wm. Dunn (son-in-law of William and nephew of William's wife), John Stinnett, John Hanson (son of William), Bill Hanson (son of William), Silas Dunn (brother-in-law of William), and Jack Hanson (son of William)." ("Here's More County History," Comanche County Chief newspaper, Comanche, Texas, August 9, 1940, page 3.)

William Hanson's middle name could have been Joseph. He is my 3rd great grandfather.

1830 Fayette County, Georgia, page 202: William HANSON: 1 male - under 5 years, 1 male - 20 to 30 years, 1 female - 20 to 30 years. (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Next door was a Thomas Hanson, 30 to 40 years old and on page 204 is a Jesse Hanson, 60 to 70 years old. I feel these are the brother and father of our William Hanson and have placed them in this genealogy on this basis. This could be incorrect.)

Note from Ralph Terry: For over 30 years, I have believed that William Joseph Hanson's father, Jesse Hanson was same Jesse Hanson of the well documented Robert Hinson line. I have also kept the record of this Jesse Hanson family in hopes that it could some day be proven. So here, in 2019, I have still have no definite proof, but have noted that a number of researchers have also felt there was a link between these two families. Through DNA research an apparent link has been noted. Knowing that I may not have too many more years to do research, I have linked the two Jesse Hansons, in hopes this link may be of some help to future researchers.
