"Jesse Hanson had an affair with a woman in Texas, which was the reason he returned to Alabama. She had Jesse's child, who was born and lived in Texas. All Granny Hanson knows is that the boy was a "Woods" -- probably his mother's maiden name. It seems Uncle Truelove did see this half brother and they knew each other. Uncle Truelove said the boy looked just like his daddy -- Jesse Hanson." (James Hanson, interview about 1980.)

Jessie H. Hanson served as a private in 26 Alabama Infantry, Company B, Confederate States of America.
