Husband of Emma Olive Bryant Green.

My maternal grandfather, William "Hosea" Green, was the 1st son and 2nd child of Willis Scoggin Green and Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Hastings Green. He married Emma Olive Bryant Green on June 15, 1905 in Flat Creek, TN, in Bedford Co. Hosea and Emma had 4 sons and 4 daughters. The first one was a girl named Lillian who only lived about 15 months. The last 5 children were born there and all seven lived there until they finished college and married. Out of the seven remaining children there were 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous great-greats.

RITES WEDNESDAY FOR W. H. GREEN
W. H. Green, Abilene's weatherman 35 years, died at 2 p.m. in Williamsburg Nursing Home. He was 85.
Funeral will be at the Kiker-Warren Chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday with George Bailey, minister of the College Church of Christ, officiating, assisted by R. W. Grimsley, elder at the College Church.
Burial will be in Cedar Hills Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nath White, Ted Pitts, Elwin Bedinchek, M. F. McKnight, W. Claude Sikes and Hollis L. Manly.
Mr. Green came to Abilene to direct weather observation in a new building at 1482 N. 1st St. on Dec. 19, 1909. At that time, weather work here was a oneman task.
He had already served at Sand Key, FL, Knoxville, TN, and Ft. Worth after joining the U. S. Weather Bureau in 1903.
Mr. Green served here until his retirement in 1944 when he was succeeded by C. E. Sitchler, chief meteorologist at the Municipal Airport station today.
Mr. Green was born March 2, 1879 in Coleman County and married the former Emma Bryant June 15, 1905 in TN. He was a member of the Highland St. Church of Christ.
In 1960 he was hospitalized at the McKnight State Sanatorium and treated for tuberculosis. He was cured of the disease before returning to Abilene.
Survivors include the wife; four sons, J. W. of 409 Portland, Howard of Cleburne, Berton of Concordia, KS, and Paul of Sweetwater; two daughters, Mrs. Russell Mozeney of Corpus Christi and Mrs. Harley Bateman of 2902 Waverly; two brothers, Elijah Green of Snyder and George of Houston.
Also five sisters, Mrs. Stella McDonald of 702 Pecan, Abilene, Mrs. Emma McDonald of Haskell, Mrs. J. L. Ingram of Coleman, Mrs. Raymond Holland of Brownwood and Mrs. Nora Fariss of Bangs; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will be at home at 409 Portland.
