Funeral Rites Slated for Vern Blomquist
Vern Alfred Blomquist, 72, of 395 West 200 North, Bountiful, died of natural causes Thursday, Nov21, at the St. Mark's Hospital.
He was born June 24, 1896 in Richfield, Utah, a son of Gustave Westman and Melinda Salisbury Blomquist. He married to Margaret Wright, Sept. 6, 1921, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was a former farmer at Richfield to 1939, then Chief of Police at Richfield until 1939; employed by Ogden Arsenal 1940 to 1960. He was an active member of the LDS Church and was a member of the Bountiful 26th Ward High Priests quorum and former member of bishopric at Richfield. He also was a former Sunday School and Priesthood teacher. He had been a veteran of world war I and member of George R. Day Post (Former Commander) Bountiful American Legion.
He is survived by his widow, son and daughters, Mrs. George (Marjorie) Romney, Jerry W. Blomquist of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Sergay (Gwen) Liston, Bountiful; Mrs. Casey (Betty) Glenn of Glendale, Calif.; Paul Blomquist, Portland, Ore.; Claude Blomquist of Seattle, Wash.
One brother and four sisters also survive him: Reed Blomquist, Richfield; Mrs. LaPriel Cameron, Mrs. H. (Marvel) Dewey, Mrs. Eileen Berger, Mrs. Francis (Luella) Hood, all of Richfield. Eighteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 12 noon in the Bountiful First and 26th Ward Chapel. Interment will be in the Bountiful Memorial Park.
