Emil "Amos" Pruss

Emil "Amos" Pruss of Auburn, Calif., passed away on December 16, 2007, at the age of 81 years. He was born in Orchard, Nebraska on July 14, 1926. He was one of ten boys, born to Albert and Bessie Pruss.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp., at the age of 17, and served in the Pacific area and participated in action against the enemy on Iwo Jima, Volcano Island., and in the occupation of China in World War II.
He was a heavy equipment operator, with Operating Engineers and a member of the Auburn Moose Lodge and St. Joseph's Church. He has been a resident of Placer County for the past 48 years. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Albert and Bessie Pruss, and four brothers, Edward, James Leonard and Eugene Pruss. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Dusart, of Colfax; his son, Tim Pruss (Tammy), of Meadow Vista; daughter, Shelly Soderberg (Jon), of Citrus Heights; son, Randy Pruss (Anna), of Colfax; daughter, Lisa Dorsett (John), of Redding; ex-wife of 20 years, Sherry Pruss, of Auburn; five brothers, Albert Pruss, Jr., of Michigan, Frank Pruss, of Iowa, Richard Pruss, of Nebraska, Ted Pruss, of California; Father, Rod Pruss, of Arizona; 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 19, 2007 from 4-7 p.m. at Chapel of the Hills, Auburn, California. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2007 at 9 a.m. also at the Chapel of the Hills. Interment to follow at the New Auburn Cemetery with Military Honors.
