Services for Mrs. James A. Baker, wife of Captain James A. Baker, Sr., will be held Thursday. Mrs. Baker died at her home, "The Oaks" at Baldwin Street and Handley Avenue on Monday. Mrs. Baker was prominent in civic and social life of Houston since 1892. For the past 50 years, Mrs. Baker worked with clubs and welfare work in Houston. She had devoted part of her time to charitable institutions. Survived by her husband; two daughters - Mrs. Alice Jones, Mrs. Preston Moore; three sons - James A. Baker, Jr, Walter Browne Baker, Malcolm Baker; three sisters - Mrs. George Coates, Mrs. Douglas Herring, Mrs. W.P. Stewart; seven grandchildren.
