Asa Lee Knight
The funeral service for Asa Lee Knight, 94, of 875 Roca St., Ashland, who died Tuesday at his residence will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Litwiller's Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Larry Steller officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland.
Mr. Knight was born Sept. 2, 1889 in Centrailia, Wash. On Jan 18, 1926 in Fairfield, Calif. he married Jessie Barnett, who survives. They came to Ashland from Napa Valley, Calif in 1952. Before moving to Ashland he operated a donkey steam engine for a logging operation in Washington.
He was a foreman for Napa County District 2 road construction for 14 years, and was a carpenter and a mason for a local contractor in Ashland, retiring in 1964.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Bill Knight and Asa Larry Knight, both of Ashland, Lee Knight, Napa, Calif. and Roy Knight, St. Helena, Calif.; two daughters, Dolores Daniels, St. Helena, Calif., and Dorothea Collier, Clio, Calif., 23 grandchildren: 17 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
