*Chico Enterprise-Record, September 17, 1969: "Rosita Chappell. Funeral services for Rosita Chappell, 83, of Napa will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Robert H. Satterfield will officiate. Norman Sanberg will be the organist and Merrill Womack, soloist, will sing, 'God Be With You Till We Meet Again' and 'Just a Closer Walk With Thee.' Mrs. Chappell died Monday in the Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa. She was born Sept. 25, 1885, in Centralia, Wash. She lived in Oregon for a time, moving in 1900 to California. Her home until 15 years ago was in Weaverville. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rosita Silver of Napa, a brother and sister living in Oregon and two grandchildren."

*From the Death Certificate on file with the State of California: Rosita (nmn) Chappell was born in Washington on September 25, 1885, the daughter of George A. (born in Tennessee) and Sarah Ann (Sanders) Knight (born in Iowa). She was a housewife, aged 83 at the time of her death on September 15, 1969. She had resided at 140 So. Seminary St., Napa, Napa County, California. She had resided there for 15 years, and for 80 years in the State of California. Burial took place on September 18, 1969 at the Christian Service Society Cemetery.

*Editor's Notes: Photos taken in 1969 of the interment site, which was an adjoining cement slab, indicate burial next to (her husband), Alfred U. Chappell. Correspondence indicates that the children wished to have a marker placed to match the father's.

Inscription: *Unmarked (broken) slab (*) adjoins that for Alfred U. Chappell slab replaced by Durham Cemetery Preservation Association, July 1994 new concrete slab has been inscribed with the name "ROSITA CHAPPELL".
