He died along with 4 other crew when their Hudson A16-152 crashed and burned 25 kms south west of Camden while on a cross country training flight.
The aircraft took off from Camden at approximately 1315 on 26/1/43 to carry out a crew training cross country flight Camden-Wagga-Forbes-Lithgow-Camden.
At 1337L hours the Aerodrome Control Officer Camden received a report from The Public Works Department at The Oaks stating that an aircraft appeared to crash nearby.This aircraft proved to be Hudson A16-152 which had crashed shortly after take off on a wooded slope at Victoria Park Picton
There were no survivors.
