Lelamae Newman, age 91, of Edon, Ohio, died at 5:30 P.M. on Monday, January 3, 2011, at Hillside Country Living, near Bryan, Ohio, where she was a resident. A lifelong resident of the Edon area, she was a graduate of Edon High School, a member of the Edon United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was employed by the Edon Northwest Schools as a cook and was also a longtime waitress. She also worked for MHE, Inc. She loved to sew, cook and enjoyed fishing.

Lelamae Newman was born on September 15, 1919, in Yorkshire, Ohio, the daughter of Walter Earl and Osa Mae (Hixson) Kinnison. She married Carlton C. Newman on November 25, 1937, and he preceded her in death on July 8, 1988.

Surviving are one daughter, Jane Youse, of Bryan, Ohio, two sons, James Newman, of Edgerton, Ohio, and Joseph (Mary Lou) Newman, of Bryan, and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Newman, of Bryan. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Marion E. (Louise) Kinnison, of Lagrange, Indiana, and three sisters, Becky (Omer) Keller, Marilyn (LeRoy) Held, both of Edon, and Anna Carpenter, of Montpelier, Ohio, and also a sister-in-law, Barbara Kinnison. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband was one son, John, in 1969, one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, three brothers, Adrian "Tater", John, and James Kinnison, two sisters, Gracia Kinnison and Emmadale Julien, one daughter-in-law, Marcy Newman, and one son-in-law, Richard Youse.

Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 6, 2011. Services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Pastor Eric Dailey officiating. Interment will follow in the Edon Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to the Edon United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
