Helen L. Salness, 95, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.

Helen L. Jorgenson was born January 28, 1916, near Erhard, MN, to Bernard and Olina (Gilbertson) Jorgenson. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. Helen married Clayton O. Salness on September 6, 1939, and they lived in Fergus Falls, MN. In 1954, the family moved to Moorhead. Helen was a homemaker, lovingly caring for her husband and children.

Helen was very active as a volunteer at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and for a time was employed by the church. She was involved in circles, altar guild, and the library. She volunteered at Eventide. Helen loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, traveling, and cooking.

Helen is survived by son, Duane (Marilyn), St. Paul, MN; daughter, Linda (James) Haukedahl, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jennifer Salness, St. Paul, MN, Mark Salness, St. Paul, Amy White, Mayville, ND, and Erika Haukedahl, Fargo; four great-grandchildren; and sister, LaVerne Satter, Pelican Rapids. Helen was preceded in death by her son, John; her husband, Clayton; her parents and nine siblings.

Visitation will be Monday, February 28 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Helen's funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 1, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Following the thankful celebration of her life, Helen will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead. May God bless her memory to all who knew and loved her.
