Delia was born July 26, 1917 in La Garita, Colorado the daughter of Patricio Atencio and Emelia Marquez Atencio. She was a member of the La Sagrada Familia and enjoyed working in her garden and the time she spent with her loving family.
Survivors include her two daughters Emelda (Mike) Maez of Pueblo, Colo.; Sylvia Duran of Center; four sons Joe (Carmelita) Aguilar of Littleton, Colo.; Danny (Bernice) Aguilar of Pueblo, Colo.; Nick (Alice) Aguilar of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Sammy (Cynthia) Aguilar of Denver, Colo.; 30 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; two sisters Margie Sanchez of Center, Colo.; Eufelia Vigil of Denver, Colo.; one brother Toby (Sista) Atencio of Colorado Springs, Colo. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Delia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph Aguilar, two sons Ernest Aguilar and Victor Aguilar, three brothers Alfonzo, Carlos and Edward Atencio, two brother-in-laws Eloy Sanchez and Ernie Vigil.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 7 p.m. St. Francis Jerome Church in Center. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Jerome Church. Interment will follow at La Garita Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held on Monday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home in Alamosa who is in care of the arrangements.
