LA GARITA - Victor E. Aguilar, 63, died Oct. 21, 2001 at his home in La Garita.

He was born on Jan. 30, 1938, in La Garita, to Ralph and Delia Atencio Aguilar.

A Sheep shearer, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading and especially the time spent with his loving family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Delia Aguilar of Center; three daughters, Joyce (Andrew) Martinez and Joan (Martin) Cereceres all of Del Norte, and Barbara Aguilar of Denver; three sons, Anthony Aguilar of Tucson, Ariz.; James Aguilar of Farmington, N.M. and Joseph (Valerie) Aguilar of Alamosa; two sisters, Emelda (Mike) Maez of Pueblo and Sylvia Duran of Center; four brothers, Joe (Carmen) Aguilar of Denver, Dan (Bernice) Aguilar of Pueblo, Nick (Alice) Aguilar of Colorado Springs and Sam (Cynthia) Aguilar of Grand Junctions; 15 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Victor was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Aguilar; one son, Leroy Aguilar; one brother, Ernest Aguilar; and one infant daughter.

A vigil service with Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001 at St. Francis Jerome Catholic Church in Center.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the church in Center, with burial following in the La Garita Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. today at Romero Funeral Home in Monte Vista, which is in charge of the arrangements.
