Funeral Services For Former Resident Are Held Here Today

Funeral services for John W. Farden Sr., a former resident of Wyoming, were held in the Cox Memorial home this afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. S.C. Gelselman of the Wyoming Methodist church officiating. Mrs. Richard Smith sang "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross" She was accompanied by Marilee Ann Perrin.

Pall bearers were Irvin Talbert, Floyd Talbert, Allen Beall, Alva Peterson, Marvin Taylor, and Roy Cornall. Interment was in the Blue Ridge cemetery in Hallock township , Peoria county.

Mr. Farden died in a convalescent home in Pontiac, Mich., last Saturday morning. A son of Levi and Clara Henry Farden, he was born in Wyoming May 24, 1877. He was united in marriage to Bessie Babcock, who preceded him in death in August 1947.

He was a farmer in the Wyoming area until about 20 to 25 years ago when he moved to Royal Oak, where he became a machinist. He was a member of the Methodist church of Royal Oak.

He is survived by five daughters, Bessie, Mrs. Randall Hayden of Elgin, Nellie, Mrs. Richard Kincaid of Inkster, Mich., Lucille, Mrs. Lucille Budry of Royal Oak, Mamie, Mrs. Peter Schroeder of Rock Island, and Alice, Mrs. Elliott Keller of Alta.; seven sons, Clarence of Rock Island, John Jr., Ardis, Dean and Gilbert of Royal Oak, Robert of Detroit, and Clifford of Rochester, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Emery Cox of Wyoming; 27 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter Mary, a son Lee, a sister Mamie and a half brother.
