John Sledge, Hamlin Resident 24 Years, Dies; Rites Today
Hamlin, March 13, (RNS) --
John Sledge, 69, Hamlin resident for about 25 years, died at Hamlin Memorial Hospital at 7 pm Friday.
Funeral will be held here at 2:30 pm Sunday in the First Methodist Church with the Rev. O. N. Lewis and the Rev. Duane Bruce, both Hamlin Methodist ministers, officiating.
Burial will be in Hamlin East Cemetery under the direction of Barrow Funeral Home.
Mr. Sledge was born October 10, 1884, in Cleburne. He was married to the former Perlia Faris at Weatherford on July 19, 1914. They moved to Eastland in 1918 and later to Hamlin. Mr. Sledge had been a member of the Baptist Church since 1916.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. R.D. Harwell of Amarillo; two sisters, Mrs. Marvin Rollins and Ollie Sledge, both of Granbury; six brothers, W. A. of Stamford, George and Cal, both of Granbury, Bob of Fort Worth, Luther of Los Angeles, California, and Fred of Wichita Falls; and one grandson.
