Walker Denley Caughman, Jr., of Lykesland and Columbia, died at the Columbia hospital Sunday morning at 12:30. He had been in declining health for several months and had been in the hospital since Thursday night, but death came suddenly and unexpectedly. Mr. Caughman, a retired farmer, was born at Lykesland, the son of the late W. Denley and Mattie Susan Jones Caughman. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Louise Jeffries Caughman; one daughter, Mrs. Carl M. Lund of Atlanta, Ga.; one son, W. D. Caughman, Third, of Charlotte, N.C.; one grandson, Carl M. Lund, Jr., and one step-son, George H. Burbage of Washington, D.C. Also three sisters, Mrs. Eva C. Cobb of Lykesland, Mrs. Stella C. Burns of Lykesland and Mrs. L. C. Dent of Columbia; three brothers, Fred Caughman of Great Falls; Belton (Nick) Caughman of Lykesland and Douglass Caughman of Lykesland; and one half-brother, Ernest Caughman of Lykesland. Funeral services will be from the Dunbar funeral home at 4:30 Monday afternoon. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The services will be conducted by the Rev. E. King Scoggins, pastor of the Mill Creek Methodist church at Lykesland. Active pallbearers will be Henry Caughman, Denley Caughman, Charlie Caughman, Karl D. Caughman, Harry L. McNeel and Eugene R.
