Funeral services for Mrs. Viola Fisher Barnette, 85, of Columbia were held at Sunday, May 17, 1998 at the First Baptist Church of Columbia with Rev. Don Smith officiating. Interment followed at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, La. under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.

Mrs. Barnette was born in Columbia on January 21, 1913 to the union of William A. and Mattie Carr Fisher and died Thursday, May 14, 1998 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, La. She was a retired nurse and a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia. She was also a district Deputy Worthy Matron of the Columbia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Vernie Braddock and Arvad Barnette.

Survivors include: four sons, Melvin V. Braddock, Corey, La.; Elvin E. Braddock, Rocky Branch, La.; Dewey L. Braddock, Columbia, La. and Ruben A. Braddock, Garland, Texas; two daughters, Alora Cruse, Jonesboro, La. and Sheila Hixson, Petersburg, Va.; two brothers, Odia Fisher and Marshall Fisher, both of Columbia; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Edward A. Braddock, Gray Braddock, Daniel Braddock, Ronnie Cruse, Tommy Cruse, Dale McKinley and Kevin McKinley.

Honorary pallbearers were: Albert Winters, R. Stapleton, Jack Crockett, Jackie Barrett, Drew Adams, Mitchell Antley, Lamar Simmons, Max Shores, and V. H. Osteen.
