Tillie Jones, 101, of Wayne, formerly of Carroll, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Hartington.
Services will be held Friday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Wayne. The Rev. Ray D.E. McCalla will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, March 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne with family present.
Tillie Marie Jones was born Nov. 13, 1913, to Edwal A. Morris and Anna Mae Thomas on a farm near Carroll, in Wayne County. She attended School District #83 near Carroll. Tillie married Lem Jones on March 18, 1936 at the home of her parents. The couple farmed southwest of Carroll and in 1945 they moved northeast of Carroll. They retired to Carroll in 1973. Tillie was a funeral attendant at Schumacher Funeral Home in Carroll following her retirement. Tillie enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, bingo and music. She cherished the time spent with her family. Tillie was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church rural Carroll where she was an organist for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid, Carroll Women's Club, Carroll Senior Center and Order of Eastern Star. Following the closing of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Tillie became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wayne.
Survivors include two daughters, Mardelle (Bob) Haberer of Crofton and Trixie (Bob) Newman of Eagan, Minn.; five grandchildren, Jay (Jennifer) Haberer, Joan (Mike) Johnson, Jill (Jeff) Markel, Ryan (Mollie) Newman and Nichole (Dave) Janssen; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Eva Hoemann; and a sister-in-law, Janice Morris.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lem in 1987; and a brother, Erwin Morris.
Pallbearers will be Jay Haberer, Ryan Newman, Ed Morris, John Haberer, Jeff Markel and Dave Janssen.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery of Rural Carroll.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne.
