He was the son of Neal Henry Ezell, Sr. and Rhoda EttaV Foy. He married Mary Anna "Anne" Flynn on September 15, 1958 in Gillsburg, Amite County, MS. They had two children: James David and Lisha Dianne. Anne is the daughter of Charlie David Flynn and Lessie E. Smith.
