James A. Wirey Jr. passed away in his sleep on Tues. Feb. 8th. He was 87.

He attended Decatur Central High School and was in the Class of 1942 but chose to enlist in the United States Coast Guard during WWII.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Joann (McQueen) Wirey. Also surviving are daughters, Joyce Sams, Janet Archer and Joann (Marie) Slaven; and sons, Jim, John and Joe Wirey along with 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

There will be no public service.
