Mr. Mathias was born May 14, 1905, in Mathias and was a son of the late Bell and Victoria Basore Mathias.

He was a lifelong resident of Mathias and a farmer. Mr. Mathias was a member of the Mathias Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are his wife, Beulah Smith Mathias, three sons, Arnold Wade"Acie"Mathias(1929-1995), of Bowling Green, Charles R. Mathias of Poolsville, Md., and Edgar L. Mathias of Boonesboro, Md., two sisters, Ollie Henderson of Moorefield, W.Va., and Polly Voss of Texas, one brother, Brown Mathias, of Mathias, 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Dr. Harold E. Barnett will conduct the funeral at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Mathias Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
