Born in Kershaw, on Aug. 23, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Burrell D. Gardner and the late Lou Taylor Gardner. Mrs. Bailey was a member of Hickory Road Baptist Church. She retired as store supervisor of the Shaw Army-Air Force Exchange with 31 years of service.
Surviving are three sons, Harold Wayne Bailey of Sumter, Robert Jerry Bailey of Rembert and Wendell B. Bailey of Summerville; one brother, Jack Gardner of Kershaw; one sister, Sara Onorato of New York; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Gardner; and two sisters, Elsie Barfield and Lucille Neal.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hickory Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Snelgrove officiating.
Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Hickory Road Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, 4510 Black River Road, Rembert.
