She graduated from Beaver High where she met her high school sweetheart Charley Roper Smith. They married the day after graduation on May 25th, 1939 in the St. George Temple. LaRue was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served many leadership roles and teaching jobs.
During World War II she worked in Ogden DDO while Charley was serving in the Navy. From So Utah they moved to Provo where they raised 4 children. After Charley retired from Union Pacific Railroad they moved to Orem and later St. George. LaRue was President of the RR "Old Timers Club #34, active in PTA and homemaking skills.
LaRue is survived by her dedicated husband Charley Smith, Washington City, children Jerry Smith (Barbara) Pl. Grove, son- in- law Kay Atwood (Connie) Laverkin, June Laws, Salt Lake City, Peggy Blackett (Randy) So Ogden, Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren Great-great-grandchildren and brothers Don Baldwin, Beaver, Ken Baldwin (Leona), Ogden. She was preceded in death by two children, Ann Atwood and infant son, Alan Smith, parents, sister Lillis, brothers Eugene, and Garth.
Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church 115 N. 1st W. Beaver, Saturday, February 5th 12:00 with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Beaver Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Swindlehurst Funeral Home, 360 West 100 North Beaver.
