Don loved the outdoors, he enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting, snowmobiling, fishing and especially golf. He, his sons, and his grandsons spent many days in the hills enjoying each other's company.

Don loved people and made friends wherever he went. He was a happy, positive person. He owned a farm and a herd of dairy cattle for many years. He ran the Conoco distributorship throughout the county. He was honest in his business dealings and because of his honesty he built up a large clientele.
