There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, July 29, at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. Pastor Jack Gray will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 7:00 p.m. at 8:30 p.m. at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
Alice was born August 27, 1905 in Orange City, the daughter of William and Reka (Beltman) Geurink. She was raised in Orange City.
On July 19, 1928, she married Dewey Wiersma at Orange City. They made their home in Orange City, where Mr. Wiersma was the Sioux County Clerk of Courts for 36 years. HE passed away June 4, 1973, in Orange City.
In March of 1997, Mrs. Wiersma became a resident of the Valley Manor in Rock Valley.
She was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church and the Harmony Circle of the church.
Survivors include her four sons, Wilbur, and his wife Mary of Orange City; Ralph and his wife, Emilie of Englewood, Colorado; Glenn, and his wife Joyce, of Odessa, Texas; and Lee, of Rock Valley; ten grandchildren. Ruth, Paul, Joyce, Bruce, Dean, Patti, David, Timothy, Susan, and Beth; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Dena Den Hartog, Jennie Aberson, and Wilmina Engbers; and three brother, Henry, Evert, and Gerrit Geurink.
Memorials are being directed to the Bible League.
