Almina Call was the oldest daughter of eight children born to Ira Call (1785-1846) & Hannah Hasttings (c1789-1869); he served in the War of 1812, 5th Regt., 2nd Brigade, M.V.M. Almina's line goes back to Deacon John Call, b.1759 Oxford, Mass.; he himself was a veteran of the French and Indian War, during the Revolution he was at Ticonderoga and Bennington and Stillwater. Deacon John was a first settler in Colrain coming from Woodstock, CT about 1765.

Almina's siblings married names were: Violet McClellan (1811-1865); Olive Manning (1813-1844); Lucinda Read (1838-1887); Mary Ann Scott (1819-1871); twins Esther Newton (1823-1893) & Hannah Farley (1823-1916); Lavina Farley (1826-1900).

Almina m. (1) Alfred Steele, June 12, 1829; Children: William, Charles, Alfred (b.1838). She m. (2) William Manning, 1845. Children: John, b. 1854[SIC 1846]; Joseph, b. May 30, 1856[SIC May 6, 1850], d. Sept. 8, 1891[SIC Apr. 13, 1901].
