William was issued a "land patent" on Nov. 1 1830 in Harrision Co. E1/2 NE 36.12.6 meaning he was one of the early settlers of this area. In the history of Bethel Church, it is mention that William and his wife joined the congregation sometime between when the first log church was made in 1818 and a new structure built in 1830.
