CHICO ENTERPRISE RECORD, Chico, CA, Sunday, May 27, 1972: "Virgie Ree Best. Funeral services for Virgie Ree Best, 73, of Santa Clara Avenue will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Brusie Funeral Home. She died at her residence Friday.
"Born Nov. 17, 1899, in Oklahoma, she moved to Chico in 1918 and married Otis best on Dec. 20, 1920. The couple moved to Santa Clara Avenue shortly afterward where they resided most of their married lives. Best died in July, 1958.
"Mrs. best was a member of the Chico Trinity United Methodist Church and Senior Citizens of Chico. She organized a band and a vocal group among the senior citizens.
"Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Pauline Adams of Chico and Mrs. Donna Beach and Mrs. Virginia Lee Reno, both of Canada; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Bradley and Mrs. Elsie Hobson, both of Chico, and Mrs. Bessie Bowie of Sentinel, Okla.; a brother, Ralph Loomis of Wilseyville; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
"Interment will be in the Chico Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday. The family requests that contributions be made to the Heart Fund."
