William Pulham was born in Suffolkshire, England in 1830 and when but six years of age emugrated to the Dominion of Canada, and there remained until about 1840, when he removed to Piscataqua Co. N.H.(Piscataqua is nowin Maine) and was a resident there for about sixteen years. He cam to Vernon County and entered land in the same year, purchased 120 acres of land in the town of Genoa, on section 23 and 24 of town 12 north, Mr. Pulham was married to Nisa E. Sandon (note: wifes name is spelled wrong it's Masse E. Sandlin) of Vernon Co. in 1862. They have reared eight children- Agnes, Ellen, Laura, George, David, Frank, Mary and Margaret. Agnes is the wife of Samuel Owen, of the town of Jefferson. Mr. Pulham enlisted in Jan. of 1864 in the 25th Reg. Wisconsin Volunteers and was discharged in July of 1865 at the close of the war. His mother Elizabeth Pulham is now living in Genoa town, at the ripe age of 79 years. His father William Pulham, was also a native of England, and died in New Hampshire about 1840.

At the age of 71 years, William Pulham, good citizen and upright man, passed away at his home in the town of Genoa, Saturday last, July 21, 1901. He was born in England in 1830; emigrating to this county six years later and located here about 1860. He leaves a widow and large family of grown sons and daughters, most of whom were present at the funeral and burial at Victory on Monday. The services were largely attended by citizens and old army comrades. Rev. John A. Stemen preaching the service
