Note- a headstone for James Barklow has never been found. It is reasonable to assume he was buried near his son, James Barklow,Jr., who died nine months earlier in Sept.,1859, near Pearl City,IL., of typhoid fever. James,Sr. was blind for the last 20 or more years of his life. James was born just east of Gettysburg, York (now Adams) Co.,PA., the son of James Barkelow(1753-1834) by his 1st wife, Elizabeth Yawger. He m. 30 Jan 1817, Mifflinburg,PA., Anah Metlin(1797-1875), d/o Patrick Metlin(1752-1825) & Sarah Thomas(1757-1838). They had 7 children. An infant daughter, Elizabeth Jane, b. Jun.7,1831, died after 14 months. Her burial in Union Co.,PA., has not been found.
