Elda Mae Lange, formerly of Estes Park, died January 20, 2011 in Denver, Colorado. She was 80 years old. Elda Mae was born June 25, 1930 on her family farm, located outside Pleasanton, NE. Her parents were Charles and Esther (Rodehorst) Ritter. After graduating from Pleasanton High School, she received a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts Education from Kearney State Teachers College, now the University of Nebraska at Kearney. In 1958 she received her Master's degree in music education from the Colorado State College of Education—Greeley, now University of Northern Colorado. On January 17, 1960 she married Richard (Dick) Lange in Kearney, NE. Elda Mae taught at various schools throughout Nebraska. The couple moved to Estes Park in 1995. Dick died on March 12, 2002. Elda Mae had always been a church organist and music teacher/leader and had worked at the Nebraska Department of Labor after her children had gone off to college. While in Estes Park, she was a church organist and member of Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church. She was also active in the Estes Park Senior Center and AAUW. Elda Mae is survived by her children Scott Lange and his wife Lori of Midwest City, OK and Patrina Lambert and her husband Sherman of Englewood, CO; grandchildren Cody Wright, Chris Lange, Christiana Lambert and Jackson Lambert; brothers Harold Ritter of Columbus, NE and Carrell Ritter of Pleasanton, NE; a sister Sharon Sand of Loveland, CO.
A memorial service will be held February 12 at 2:00 pm at The Court at Denver, 3790 W. Quincy in Denver. Another service will take place in North Platte, NE (date to be determined) with burial to follow at McPherson National Cemetery.
