MAURER, H. Charlene [Armstrong] age 79 of Clayton, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2011. She was a graduate of Brookville High School and her Class Valedictorian. Charlene received her Bachelors Degree from Miami University with Cum Laude Honors and later received her Masters Degree from Wright State University. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the International Honor Society in Education and Phi Delta Kappa, the Professional Association in Education. Charlene retired with more than 30 years as a teacher with Dayton Public Schools and was a member of Phillipsburg United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years: George Maurer, sons and daughters-in-law: Scott and Mary Ann Maurer of Arcanum, Kyle and Elaine Maurer of Loveland, brothers: Gary "Bud" Armstrong of Eaton, Dean Armstrong of Eaton, Stanley (Rose) Armstrong of Eaton, sisters: Carol Armstrong of IN, Connie (Terry) Beasley of Eaton, grandchildren: Kyle Andrew, Bradley Alan, Clayton Scott, Kimberly Jane, Kendra Josephine, Meggie Lynelle, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lester and Dorothy (O'Dell) Armstrong, brothers: James Armstrong, Richard "Dick" Armstrong, sisters: Peggy Ashley and Dolores Rhoades.
