According to Jana Hertz, Ruby Elva Thomas was born in Backus, Fayette County, West Virginia, and not in Kanawha County, as is stated on her death certificate.

The informant on Ruby's death certificate is the doctor, and not a relative. In such cases I have found that mistakes about the information of the deceased occur more frequently than if a relative of the deceased is the informant. This does not apply to the medical section of the death certificate, of course. ~terry
