Gray, Norma A. 94, of Hampshire, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011, at Manor Care in Elgin. She was born April 2, 1916 in Hampshire, the daughter of John and Emma (Dumoulin) Maynard. Norma attended the Walker Grade school and was a 1934 graduate of Hampshire High School. Norma married Gordon R. Gray on April 6, 1944 in Hampshire and they moved to the farm on the corner of Chapman and Ellithorpe Rds. in Burlington Twp. She has spent the last 66 years there where she and Gordon raised the family. While Norma worked many outside the home jobs, she particularly enjoyed working as the Central High School secretary. She enjoyed children very much and was always there to listen to anyone who needed someone to talk to. Norma grandmothered actively. she was extremely proud of her three grandsons and knew she was very lucky to know her great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her three children Gordon (Linda) Gray, Glenn Gray and Linda (Robert) Urban all of Hampshire; three grandsons Todd (Vicki) Gray, Chad (Chrissy) Gray and Garrett Kenny (fiance, Toni Castellano); six great-grandchildren, Brandon, Tristin, Brittany, Alethea, Gordon and Aurelia; her brother, John Maynard Jr. of Hampshire; and many loving nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gordon, on June 6th 1988; four brothers and sisters, Alvin in infancy, Beatrice Walrack, Edwin Maynard and Doris Huntoon; and her niece, Sue Anderson. The Memorial Service be will be held at 11 AM Monday at the Burlington Methodist Church, corner of Center and South Sts., Burlington. Memorial visitation will be held from 3 to 6 PM Sunday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Burlington Fire Dept. or the Burlington-Hampshire Area Food Pantry. Information call 847-683-2711.
