Doris M. Huntoon of Elgin

A memorial visitation for Doris M. Huntoon, 81, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today, at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Born Nov. 28, 1922, in Hampshire, the daughter of John and Emma (nee Dumoulin) Maynard, she passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at her home. Doris was a devoted mother. She was a creative seamstress who took pleasure in sharing her talents. She also loved animals. Mrs. Huntoon is survived by her husband, Walter, who she met at the Elgin National Watch Company, and to whom she was united in marriage June 8, 1944, in Hampshire; children, David of Albuquerque, N.M., Carol Zamie of Elgin and Gary (Wanda Null) of Elgin; granddaughter, Kristin Huntoon of Elgin; brothers, John and Edwin, both of Hampshire; a sister, Norma Gray of Hampshire; and her nieces and nephews. She also leaves her other "grandchildren," "Jasmine," a black lab, and three cats, "Dolly," "Chessie" and "Sugar". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Bernardine Walrack, and a brother, Alvin, in infancy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager Ave., Barrington, IL 60010 or Kindness, Inc., (no kill animal shelter), 819 Walnut Ave., Elgin, IL 60123.
