Laurel E. Richards, 37, 9100 S. Road 500W, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at University Heights Hospital at Greenwood after being ill most of his life.
He was the son of Alvina Coy Richards Lucas with whom he made his home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Calling hours will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of service.
Richards was born Jan. 17, 1948, at Edinburgh. His father was the late Harry Richards.
Also surviving are his stepfather, Clinton Lucas; five brothers, Robert Richards of 2621 13th, James Richards, of Fort Pierce, Fla., Ronnie Richards of 2204 22nd, Albert Richards of Jewell Village and Tim Richards of Rosstown; four sisters, Sharon Lucas of Brown County, Terrie Mathis of Hope, Nina Harrison of Ohio and Bonnie Austin of 739 McClure; five stepbrothers, Charles, Kenneth, Johnny and Ricky Lucas, all at home, and Dale Lucas of 231 S. Mapleton; and two stepsisters, Betty Skaggs of 2901 S. Road 550W, and Janet Skaggs of 1933 E. Road 450S.
