Catharine Ann Shankweiler, widow of James Shankweiler, passed away at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Samuel Fox, Reading, on Sunday at 3 p.m. Death was due to pneumonia, aged 72 years, three months and 24 days. She was formerly a resident of Topton and a daughter of the late Samuel and wife Catherine (Burkey) Bittenbender. She was a member of the Lutheran faith of Huffs church. Surviving there are two sons, John of Ithaca, N.Y., and Harry of Carbondale, two daughters, Mrs. A. Z. Rohrbach, Topton; Mrs. Samuel Fox, Reading; one sister, Mrs. Sallie Bechtel, Topton, and one brother, John of New Berlinville, and seventeen grandchildren. The funeral will be held from the residence of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. A. Z. Rohrbach, Topton, on Saturday, December 6, 1.30 p.m. Further services in Huffs church. Interment in the Rauch-Hertzog cemetery. Rev. W. F. Bond will officiate. Funeral Directors J. J. Schofer & Sons, Topton, have charge.
